There are many questions that parents have when choosing a school for their children. We encourage parents to visit the school and meet with the staff and children but it can also be useful to do a little research, especially if it is the first time you are enrolling a child in school. The What, Why and How of Children’s Learning on Primary School published by the National Council for Curriculum Assessment (NCCA) outlines clearly what is taught in Primary Schools, how children learn and how you can support your child.
Your Child’s Learning provides guidelines for parents and is published by the Department of Education and Science in conjunction with the NCCA.
Tips for Parents is a booklet published by the Irish National Teachers’ Orgnaisation (INTO) and is available in many languages from their website www.into.ie.
What is an Educate Together School is a booklet published by Educate Together and is also available in several languages from their webiste www.educatetogether.ie.
