Well done to Izzy and Dearbhla for their winning poems. They have both received a voucher for Smyths Toy Shop!
Also, well done to everyone in 4th Class who entered. The standard was very high, so it was a very difficult decision!
Here are their poems...
By Izzy Finn
Some days I feel sad, there’s nothing to do
Lockdown life makes me want to chew my own shoe.
I stare at the walls, missing my friends
We’ve been through lots of curves and bends.
Other days are better, the sun is on my face
I smile, get to my feet and pick up the pace.
I watch my bunnies hopping around
They do it all day and don't make a sound.
My dog on the other hand barks like mad
It's hard to tell if she’s happy or sad.
I see the birds making their nests
I don't think they need coronavirus tests.
So life with coronavirus isn't so bad
If we remember, it's ok to be happy and sad.

There is a lot I don’t like about lockdown life.
I know I’ve had a vacation from my education
But I don’t get to see my friends till his lockdown ends.
I like to facetime, when i’m allowed online,
But it's not the same as a real life game,
Of four square or tag, or hide and seek,
When i’d often cheat and have a peek.
I’m sick and tired of being all alone.
I'm sick and tired of being on my phone.
I can’t wait to get back to things as they were.
So find a cure for this virus, and end this world crisis!!
Goodbye for now.
Enjoy your time off.
I hope you stay safe and don’t get a cough.
