Our School - A Farewell Project! From Sixth Class
We started a project about our school in September. Sixth Class presented this along with a patchwork quilt blanket to Anna and Fionnuala as parting gifts during the graduation ceremony. A huge thanks to Sarah for her amazing croquet skills. She made our random patches into a piece of art. Another huge thanks to Valerie for helping with our year book.

As part of Engineer's Week we went to the 'Move It' workshop in the Engineering Building in NUIG. While there we were fortunate enough to visit Flirt FM and, were not only given a tour of their studio, but got to record our very own shout outs to friends and family. Rachael and Cole participated in a live quiz and we honed our interview skills using recording equipment. January
January has been another hectic month. At the beginning of the month we were involved in the inter-schools debating competition. The motion was "The Internet Does More Harm Than Good". Although defeated we learned lots from the experience. We've been learning about energy conservation in Science and made recycled paper. We received a tank from the Galway Aquarium for our classroom - giving us a snapshot of life under the sea. Mary helped us dissect a brain. Colm, Hannah, Blythe and Rory will be representing us in the Credit Union's Monster Quiz.
Blythe, Rory, Hannah and Colm represented our school in the Credit Union's Monster Quiz. After several tie-breakers they were narrowly defeated. We are very proud of their achievement!

We won and had an amazing tour of the boat and met with a lot of the scientists who work on board in the wet and dry labs. While there we also went to the Christmas market in Galway. We were also busy preparing for our Christmas concert. We performed Avicii's 'Wake Me Up' as Gaeilge and Bob Dylan's 'Here Comes Santa Claus'.

NOVEMBER
In November we had a very successful bake sale in which we raised over 700 euro for the people of the Philippines in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan. The money raised was donated to Unicef. We were also busy making Reindeer Food in preparation for Christmas. We started our literacy circles. There are five reading groups in the class. We're reading three novels: Buddy by Nigel Hinton, Wonder by RJ Palaccio and When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit by Judith Kerr. We were also busy learning about acids and bases and the brain during Science Week. The scientists from the Jumping Clay team visited the school and we learned about the properties of the cell.
