Déan Comhrá (Gaeloideachas) is a booklet full of simple, practical vocabulary that can be used at home on a daily basis.
Rang Maher is a new and helpful website suitable for 4th – 6th class. It is particularly helpful for teaching Irish Grammar with videos to learn from, practical activities and useful summaries.
Bia Linn is a great resource from TG4. Here you will find cookery demonstrations for children. Muireann and her team chat informally in Irish while they cook delightful tasty child-friendly dishes with úlla, seacláid agus pasta to name but a few. Another fun part of the site is the song section where you can click on each of the programme’s songs, get the lyrics and sing along! Other very good programmes are Lá le Mamó nó le Daideó or Is Mise. GAA Cúl Camps is a 15 part series exploring a virtual Cúl Camps at home in Irish. Mo Shaol Do Shaol is another good programme where two very different people swap hobbies for a day. Is Eolaí Mé is a super science progamme for children with higher proficiency in Irish.
Singing songs repeatedly can help children acquire new language while improving pronunciation. Also, here are some great resources available on YouTube suitable for older children.
CEOL 2018 is a music album with Irish language translations of popular songs by well-known artists such as Kodaline, Picture This, Gavin James and The Academic. Many of the songs have lyrics on screen, which help to embed the language structures. Material can also be accessed for older age groups at TG Lurgan where you will find covers of popular songs as Gaeilge.
Scéalta Le Spraoi is a lovely You Tube Chanel where a teacher reads stories as Gaeilge or does little STEM activities through Gaeilge.
‘Muzzy’ Episodes 1 – 6 on YouTube ‘Muzzy’ is an award-winning language course for learners of all ages, developed by the BBC. It is subtitled in English.
